Personal: Shiraishi started judo at the age of four at Sacramento Judo Club before later relocating her training to Okubo Judo Club with Haruo Makimoto.  In 2004, she also joined East Bay Judo Institute to work with David Matsumoto, the coach of two of the top-ranked athletes on the Senior Elite Roster.  In 2006, Shiraishi competed on her first Senior International Team at the World Championships by Team of Nation in Paris, France.
