 Judo in the 2009 Maccabiah Games

Every four years Jewish athletes from around the world gather in Israel to compete in their respective sports in the Maccabiah Games.  Next year will be the 18th time these games will be conducted and judo will be one of the prominent sports. 

If you are a Jewish US judoka interested in participating as an athlete you can begin the process by completing the on-line application at http://www.maccabiusa.com/ and clicking on the link to the 18th Maccabiah Games.  There is also a financial commitment involved for each participant which is explained on the website (see the section on “Yachad” on the application). 

The team selection process has not yet been determined and will likely depend on the number and location of applicants.  In the meantime, please feel free to contact the US Judo Chairman, Todd Volyn via e-mail at volyn@patmedia.net with any questions.  Likewise, feel free to contact him if you are interested in making a financial contribution to help enable athletes to attend or to enhance the quality of the event and all it takes to make it successful.
